Dear UTA alumni,

We’re looking toward our upcoming winter commencement ceremonies, when 4,500 members of the UTA Class of 2015 will walk across the College Park Center stage to join the ranks of Maverick alumni—now about 200,000 strong. We’re also having a blast cheering on our men’s and women’s basketball teams, both of which are off to strong starts. Read more about what’s going on at your alma mater below, and please send us your good news! Go Mavs!

Graduates Go Forth

Did you know that UTA awarded more than 10,500 degrees last year? This makes UTA the third largest producer of college graduates in the state of Texas. Almost 4,500 students are candidates for graduation at commencement ceremonies December 17‑19 at College Park Center. For a full schedule and other details, visit uta.edu/commencement.

FD, the luxury lifestyles magazine published by The Dallas Morning News, has named assistant film professor Ya’Ke Smith “one to watch” in 2016. FD described Smith, UTA’s Morgan Woodward Distinguished Professor of Film, as a popular mentor who is known for teaching students the rigors of production. The magazine noted that his films “tackle taboo subjects of modern African-American life.”
