Winning Ways

In case you missed it over the holidays, men’s basketball Coach Scott Cross became UTA’s all‑time winningest coach on Dec. 30 after the Mavericks staged a comeback and beat Georgia State 85‑70 in the Sun Belt Conference opener at College Park Center. Our men’s and women’s teams are on the road this week and next, but back at home for conference play in doubleheaders beginning at 5 p.m. Jan. 21 and 23. Let’s pack the house! Tickets at utatickets.com.

More than 40,500 UTA Facebook friends watched our video story about December 2015 nursing graduate Ali Alrubaiee, who grew up in Iraq and served as a translator for the U.S. Army before becoming an American citizen. Friend and former colleague Lisa Montoya, an Army lieutenant, attended the nursing commencement ceremony to cheer on her friend. Afterward, she said: “I owe my life to him.”
