Season Finale

The 2015-2016 Maverick Speakers Series ended last week in front of a record-breaking crowd that packed College Park Center to hear Jane Goodall share lessons learned from her research at Gombe National Park. Her message of conservation and scientific exploration held the audience captive as only her compassionate demeanor could. This year's Maverick Speakers Series included many talented guests like Dr. Goodall, Mia Farrow, Daymond John, Ron Paul, and Donna Brazile. Speakers for the 2016-2017 season will be announced soon.

National Champions

Recognition was never a motivating factor for the Lady Movin' Mavs as they started their season, but the recognition they deserved after winning the National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament title came to them this past week. UTA's 2016 Spirit Week concluded with a pep-rally to celeberate the most successful season in team history. The entire UTA community joined in the festivites as the team paraded the national championship trophy through campus. Alumni Spotlight

On most Saturdays, you can find UTA almuna and first grade teacher Elisabeth Stewart in her classroom diligently planning for the next week. Elisabeth's dedication to her profession was featured in the most recent edition of Mansfield Now, not because her passion for teaching is unique, but because of the obstacles she overcame to become a teacher and how she uses what she learned about herself to help her students succeed. Diagnosed with ADHD and Auditory Dyslexia, Elisabeth sees the differences in learning pathways as an opportunity to connect with each student.
