MSS Special Edition Stephen Breyer

Join us on Tuesday, December 13, for a Maverick Speakers Series Special Edition as U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer discusses his recent book The Court and the World: American Law and the New Global Realities. CAPPA Student Wins Design Competition
CAPPA student wins statewide Bullet Train station design competition

A UTA student has won a statewide design competition for her Dallas station design for the Texas Central Partners’ bullet train that is planned to run between Houston and Dallas by the early 2020s. Julia Green, a graduate student in the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs, won first place in the Station Architectural Design category. Adrian de Leon of UTA received an honorable mention in the Dallas Station Design category. READ MORE

Students Gain Valuable Experience

UTA broadcasting students are gaining skills that give them valuable real-world experience thanks to a partnership with the Univision television station in Dallas-Fort Worth. Proyecto U gives Spanish-language students a chance to produce newscasts and cover stories on Univision 23. "This is, without question, a unique program unlike anything you'd find in the United States," says Julian Rodriguez, UTA Broadcast Communication Lecturer and News Director of UTA News en Espanol. Alumni Relations to Host UTA Day at the Rodeo on January 22

Alumni Relations is hosting the annual UTA Day at the Rodeo on Sunday, January 22. Prior to attending the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, alumni and friends will gather at noon in the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History to eat lunch and hear the latest UTA updates. Your $25 ticket includes entry to the rodeo.

UTA Staff Named CIO of Year Finalist

Jeffery Neyland, UTA’s vice president for information technology, has been named a finalist for CIO of the Year Award in the nonprofit sector by the Dallas CIO Leadership Association. Neyland is one of five finalists in that sector.

Gourley Luncheon

UTA recognized 17 student scholarship recipients Tuesday, November 29, at the annual Mary I. Gourley Scholarship Luncheon. The Mary I. Gourley Foundation, based in Fort Worth, helps single parents across North Texas afford college, something many are unable to do while serving as caregivers and breadwinners. READ MORE

Maverick Dance Company Concert | Maverick Dance Company presents a collection of new, entertaining, and progressive dance works by faculty, guest, and student choreographers running December 9-11. The mission of MDC is based on a perspective that through dance, we can communicate what is often challenging to put into words.

Commencement Week | Ceremonies to recognize the Fall Class of 2016 begin on Thursday to start the commencement season. Five more ceremonies honoring UTA graduates are scheduled through Saturday, December 17. A complete schedule, visitor information, and ceremony tickets are available on the University's main commencement page.

January 22 | Sunday

UTA Day at the Rodeo |  Head to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo with all of your favorite Mavericks. Mark your calendars for this year's alumni event on January 22 from noon to 1:30 pm. Immediately following lunch, the group will walk to Will Rogers Coliseum to catch all the rodeo action. Your $25 ticket includes lunch, a rodeo ticket, and Maverick giveaways. GET YOUR TICKETS

February 16 | Thursday

MSS: Kevin O'Leary | The popular business entrepreneur and TV personality Kevin O'Leary is coming to campus as the first Maverick Speakers Series event in 2017. O'Leary will present Swimming with a Shark - An Evening with Kevin O'Leary at College Park Center. Audience Q&A and book-signing will follow the lecture.
