Maverick Minority Leaders
Several UTA alumni and friends were named 2017 Honorees of the Fort Worth Business Press Minority Leaders in Business Awards. The honorees include James Austin (Austin Company Commercial Real Estate), Richard Casarez (Oncor Electric Delivery), Joseph DeLeon (Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth), Larry Kemp (Kemp and Sons General Services Inc.), Robert Sturns (City of Fort Worth), and Wyntress Ware (Ware & Associates, Inc.).

Best for Vets
Military Times once again ranked UTA the No. 1 four-year institution in Texas for veterans and their families to earn a college degree. Nationally, UTA ranked No. 12 on the Military Times Best: Colleges 2018 list. UTA is the only four-year Texas school in the top 20, moving up eight spots from its 2017 ranking. READ MORE

Leading the fight against Cancer
Subhrangsu Mandal, associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry, led a team of researchers who recently published in the prestigious Cancer Research journal. Their study correlates a specific type of molecule, IncRNA, with different cancers, making it ideal for developing non-invasive biomarkers for the disease, as well as personalized cancer therapies. UTA students received recognition from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences during the 15th Annual Lone Star Emmy Awards in San Antonio. Five graduates of UTA News en Español, UTA’s Spanish-language broadcast journalism program, took home 18 regional Emmy awards. READ MORE
