National Champion
Alexus Henry became the first UTA woman ever to win an individual national championship, taking the title in the women's high jump at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The victory completed a historic season by Henry, who previously earned second team All-America honors at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships, won the Sun Belt Conference outdoor title, and established school records in the indoor high jump, indoor pentathlon, outdoor high jump, and outdoor heptathlon. sustainable urban communities
Ali Abolmaali, chair of the Department of Civil Engineering and Tseng Huang Endowed Professor in civil engineering, is working with the City of Fort Worth to review its policies and procedures for work related to the city's infrastructure. Abolmaali received a three-year contract to help improve several municipal public works needs and projects. READ MORE

UTA achieved its highest ranking to date in the largest assessment of global universities. The Center for World University Ranking placed UTA 150th nationally and 558th globally out of the 27,000 degree-granting institutions it evaluates annually. The ranking uses several factors including quality of education and research, influence, and alumni employment, among others, to determine the top 1,000 universities in the world. READ MORE

UTA researchers have been among the most prolific in terms of receiving patents from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. With more than 23 patents issued in 2017, UTA faculty helped the UT System earn the No. 3 ranking in the Top 100 Worldwide Universities Granted U.S. Utility Patents in 2017. READ MORE

Alumni Startup
Two UTA alumni were part of the TECH Fort Worth Impact Showcase last week after a successful Kickstarter campaign helped launch their company, Aspen Tyke. Sarinya ('99) and Glen ('96) Oliver were both engineers who wanted a better travel bag once their son was born. Their vision helped create Aspen Tyke. READ MORE

4th of July Parade | Join UTA and the City of Arlington for one of the largest and oldest 4th of July parades in Texas. The family-friendly festivities begin at 9 AM when the Arlington Community Band and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts lead the singing of the National Anthem. Parking is available at UTA. MORE INFO
