Teaching excellence
UTA faculty members Carla Amaro-Jiménez, Ramón López, Laura Mydlarz, Kathryn Hamilton Warren, and Robert L. Woods have all been chosen by the Board of Regents for the University of Texas System to receive its highest award for teaching excellence – the 2017 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Awards.

Advancing Interdisciplinary Projects
UTA has awarded three seed grants for interdisciplinary research projects that propose new ways to treat skin cancer, quicker and less expensive evaluation of chemotherapy drugs, and innovative programs to reduce the mental health risks of homeless youth. READ MORE

pRESTIGIOUS grant
Kyle O'Connell, a fifth-year Ph.D. student in biology, has been funded by the National Science Foundation's Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grants program, which typically awards funding to between 100 and 200 projects nationwide each year. The award will support O'Connell's dissertation research, which focuses primarily on the promoters of speciation - the formation of new and distinct species in the course of evolution - on the Indonesian island of Sumatra using parachuting frogs of the genus Rhacophorus. Texas Autocross
Collegiate auto racing teams from across the country will converge on UTA's campus to rev their engines and compete against the clock at the 17th Annual Texas Autocross Weekend July 8-9. Cars are designed, built, and raced by students. Races will take place on Lot 49 and are free and open to the public. READ MORE

Alumni Chapter Meeting | The Fort Worth Alumni Chapter will meet from 12 to 1 pm at Joe T. Garcia's to network and discuss chapter events. College of Engineering Dean Peter Crouch will also be on hand to provide updates on the College's current progress toward the University's strategic plan. REGISTER
