The 2017-2018 Maverick Speakers Series starts with one of UTA's very own. Lou Diamond Phillips ('85) will kickoff the series on September 7 at Texas Hall. UTA is hosting a film festival featuring some of his best known work including, Filly Brown (8/31), La Bamba (9/5), Courage Under Fire (9/6), and The 33 (9/6). Purnendu “Sandy” Dasgupta, the Hamish Small Chair of Ion Analysis in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UTA, has been named recipient of the 2017 Talanta Medal, an international award that recognizes world leaders in the analytical chemistry field. READ MORE

A Digital Age Banker

Brian Happel ('83) focuses on the basics, as a place-kicker for the UTA football team as well as the Washington Redskins, New York Jets, and other NFL teams. Now, as the CEO of BBVA Compass Fort Worth, Happel continues to stay true to his calling as he pushes the 31 branches under his purview into the modern age of digital technology in banking. NAACP Student Chapter of the Year

In addition to being named College Chapter of the Year for the second year in a row, the UTA National Association for the Advancement of Colored People student chapter received four other awards at the 108th NAACP National Convention in Baltimore. READ MORE

TFE Times ranked the UTA College of Business's master of quantitative finance degree among the best in Texas. READ MORE

NSF Grant

Yan Wan, an associate professor in UTA’s Department of Electrical Engineering, is the team lead on a three-year grant from the National Science Foundation that will develop a networked airborne computing platform for multiple unmanned aerial systems. READ MORE

September 13 | Wednesday

UTA Night at the Rangers | Gather with UTA alumni and friends for a pre-game picnic on the third base concourse from 5:30-7:00 pm before the Texas Rangers take on the Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Park. The first 1,000 UTA fans receive a UTA-themed Rangers hat. GET YOUR TICKETS

October 3 | Tuesday

Fort Worth Alumni Chapter Meeting | UTA men's head basketball coach Scott Cross joins the Fort Worth Alumni Chapter at Joe T Garcia's to discuss the upcoming 2017-2018 season. Tickets are $15 to the 12 pm event. It will be a great time to network, eat, and share your Maverick pride with fellow UTA grads in Fort Worth! REGISTER

October 14 | Saturday

UTA Day at the Dallas Zoo | Lions and Tigers and Mavericks, oh my! The first ever UTA Day at the Dallas Zoo will take place from 11 am to 1 pm on October 14. Tickets are $25 and include a come-and-go lunch, parking, admission to the Dallas Zoo, and Maverick giveaways. Children two and under are free! GET YOUR TICKETS
