Paying Tribute
This year’s day of service during Arlington’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration has been named after longtime UTA employee Zeb Strong Jr., a 1988 UTA alumnus who earned a bachelor’s degree in political science, served the University in a number of roles, and had a positive effect on the lives of countless students. He was a tremendous champion of students and an ambassador for the University. He also was a tireless advocate for opportunity. This year’s day of service starts at 9 AM on Monday, Jan. 21. READ MORE

Hoops n Heels
While the Lady Mavericks were defending College Park Center in a close, double overtime win against Appalachian State on Thursday, January 10, they were also bringing business leaders together. Through a unique partnership with the Greater Arlington Chamber Women's Alliance, the Lady Mavericks hosted women business and community leaders for a 'Hoops N Heels' event that included a night of networking. National Rankings
Two UTA colleges recently earned recognition in rankings released by U.S. News & World Report and Intelligent.com. The online graduate nursing program in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation, the largest producer of baccalaureate degree nurses in Texas, improved from No. 87 to No. 75 out of 170 programs this year. The College of Education's online graduate education program also moved up in this year's rankings, reaching No. 46 nationally in the U.S. News & World Report rankings while also receiving a No. 5 ranking for its online master's degree program by Intelligent.com. Lighting the way
The University of Texas at Arlington Research Institute (UTARI), has signed an agreement with Newcastle Manufacturing to configure and demonstrate a network of unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, that can use lights to support emergency response operations at night. READ MORE

International Award
John Romig, assistant professor of special education, was recognized by the Council for Exceptional Children’s Division for Research with a 2019 Student Research Award. Recipients will be honored in February at the division’s business meeting and reception to be held during the Council for Exceptional Children Convention and Expo in Indianapolis. READ MORE
