Game Time!
UTA Basketball Season Tickets

UTA's men's and women's basketball teams compete this weekend at College Park Center as part of the ongoing 2018 Homecoming celebrations. The Lady Mavs take on Jackson State at 2:30 PM, followed by the annual street festival on Spaniolo Drive and Homecoming Parade at 5:15 PM. The men's team then competes against Northern Iowa in their game at 7 PM. UTA's Homecoming Coronation will take place during halftime. Alumni can still purchase tickets to both games and to Party on the Plaza, a gathering on Moritz Plaza prior to the men's basketball game.

Better Brain Trauma Treatment

Weidong Zhou, a Distinguished University Professor in electrical engineering, is working in collaboration with a pioneer in the field to develop an implantable optical probe that can be inserted in the brain and used to monitor brain function after traumatic injuries or surgeries, then be absorbed by the body. If successful, the device would increase patient comfort during recovery and lessen the risks of complications from surgery to remove monitoring devices. READ MORE

Muhammad Farooq Wahab, a research engineering scientist at UTA, was named to the Analytical Chemists 2018 Top 40 Under 40 Power List of young analytical scientists, published by the prestigious British magazine The Analytical Scientist in its October 2018 edition. READ MORE

Best for Vets

Military Times ranked UTA the No. 1 four-year institution in Texas for veterans and their families to earn college degrees. Nationally, UTA ranked No. 7 on the list published last week, up five spots from its No. 12 ranking on the 2018 list. READ MORE

Helping Out
Gourley winners luncheon

Fifteen Maverick students were honored during the annual Mary I. Gourley Foundation Scholarship Luncheon on Wednesday. The foundation, based in Fort Worth, helps single parents across North Texas afford college, which some are unable to do while serving as caregivers and breadwinners. READ MORE
