Ring Ceremony

Before this year's graduating class walks the stage next week, several soon-to-be alumni gathered for the traditional Ring Ceremony. From rubbing the bust of E.H. Hereford for good luck to donning their class rings for the first time, members of the 2018 class celebrated their path to earning their degree and enjoyed a moment of nostalgia for the time spent at UTA that made them a part of the Maverick family. John Merrill

John Merrill ('11) found himself on Barron's "Top 100 Financial Advisors" list again in 2018, reaching the number 25 spot. The ranking, now in its 15th year, spotlights the 100 leading financial advisors from across the country and ranks them based on assets under management, revenue generated for the advisors' firms, and the quality of the advisors' practices. a day of mourning
A Day of Mourning

Faculty, staff, and students paused for a moment of silence on Wednesday, December 5, to honor the memory of the 41st President of the United States George H.W. Bush. Texas Governor Greg Abbott proclaimed that day as an official Day of Mourning and encouraged Texans to "gather, assemble, and pay their respects to the memory of George Herbert Walker Bush." UTA observed a moment of silence at 10 AM.

RSVP online for a pre-game social event at LSA Burger Company in Denton before the UTA men's basketball team takes the court this Saturday against UNT at 5 PM. Alumni can also receive discounted tickets to the game by calling the UNT Box Office at 940-656-2527 and requesting the UTA rate.

UTeach grant
UTEACH

The UTeach Arlington secondary math and science teacher preparation program at UTA received a grant from the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation to support UTA science, mathematics, and computer science majors who are pursuing secondary teacher certification while they serve at four Boys & Girls Club of Greater Tarrant County locations. Opioid Panel

The Texas Tribune hosted an open dialogue with state representatives on UTA's campus about the rising opioid crisis in Texas. The New Scourge: A Conversation on Opioid Abuse in Texas featured Reps. J.D. Sheffield (R-Gatesville), Garnet Coleman (D-Houston), and Dr. Stephanie Jones from UT Southwestern. READ MORE

Hushangabad: Portrait of a North Indian Village | The work of acclaimed photographer Andrew Ward is on display at UTA through February 15 as part of a featured exhibit in cooperation with SOHARA, the Indian cultural society.
