Like the wind
Luca Maddalena, UTA aerospace engineering associate professor and director of the Aerodynamics Research Center, won a pair of Office of Naval Research grants totaling more than $1.5 million. These grants will help him run UTA's new arc-heated, hypersonic wind tunnel, one of just a handful of its kind in the United States and the only one at a university. READ MORE

Forty Under Forty
Three UTA alumni received recognition in the Dallas Busniess Journal "40 Under 40" list. Elyssa L. Barksdale ('12), partner and director of operations at Thiel & Thiel, Inc.; Jeffrey C. Casper ('15), City of Mesquite councilmember; and Richard J. Margolin ('10), chief technology officer at Robokind Robotics, earned a spot on the list for their contributions to the North Texas community.

UTA at the Capitol
Mavericks from across the state of Texas will gather in Austin on March 6 to support UTA at the Capitol. UTA will be recognized in both chambers of congress at 10 AM, followed by a live performance of the student A Cappella Choir at noon in the Capitol rotunda. Alumni and friends are encouraged to join both activities wearing their Maverick colors.

In memoriam
Actor and alumnus Morgan Woodward ('48) passed away on February 22 at his home in Hollywood Hills. Woodward appeared in more than 250 movies and television shows during his career and will always be known for his role as Marvin "Punk" Anderson in the television series Dallas. READ MORE
