Current and former Lady Movin’ Mavs helped Team USA claim the 2019 International Wheelchair Basketball Federation’s U25 World Championship in Thailand. Nina Welfle, Rose Hollermann, Abby Dunkin, Josie Aslakson, and Elizabeth Becker, all current and former Lady Movin’ Mavs, played for Team USA. Annabelle Lindsay, a current Lady Movin’ Mav, played for Team Australia, who came in second place. READ MORE

UTA Alumni Relations

On the strength of its Operation Global Impact service initiative, the Athletics Department at UTA has been named one of three finalists by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics for the 2019 Community Service Award, presented by the Fiesta Bowl. The finalists for the third-annual award—UTA, Boston College, and East Carolina University—were announced June 10 at the 54th Annual NACDA Convention in Orlando. READ MORE

Dereje Agonafer, a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a Distinguished University Professor of mechanical engineering, has been named by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as a recipient of its prestigious Heat Transfer Memorial Award. The award honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of heat transfer in teaching, research, practice, and design through publications, patents, or inventions. READ MORE

UTA has been named one the nation’s top teacher prep programs in the first edition of Start Here to Become a Teacher, a new book from the National Council on Teacher Quality. UTA is in the 97th percentile, making it one of the top programs in Texas. READ MORE

Eleven students in UTA's Colleges of Engineering, Business, and Science have received coveted Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowships from the U.S. Department of Transportation. READ MORE

DFW music
UTA Alumni Relations

David Arditi, assistant professor of sociology, is working to preserve North Texas’ independent music scene through an online audio archive and streaming platform called MusicDetour: The DFW Local Music Archive. He has spent four years creating the digital depository for DFW music. READ MORE

Student Artwork from the Studio of Sedrick Huckaby | Sedrick Huckaby, artist and associate professor at UTA, has influenced many through his years of work. Come explore his influence on the next generation of Mavericks during a special exhibit in the lobby of Frost Tower Fort Worth.

July 4 | Thursday

Arlington 4th of July Parade | The annual Arlington 4th of July Parade is the oldest and longest running event in Arlington. As a proud sponsor, UTA will once again enter several floats in the 9 AM parade that travels through downtown Arlington. For tips on where to park and watch the parade, visit the parade website.

November 8 | Friday

Distinguished Alumni Awards | Save the date for our annual celebration of Maverick alumni who inspire excellence. Scheduled during Homecoming week, the Distinguished Alumni Awards is a time to reflect on what makes UTA a driving force in North Texas. Stay tuned to the UTA alumni channels for ticket information.
