ADVANCEMENTS IN CANCER DETECTION
Advancements in Cancer Detection

UTA College of Nursing and Health Innovation researchers have developed a new nanoparticle-based platform for simultaneous imaging and treatment of esophageal cancer. Nursing Associate Professor Zui Pan is one of the authors of a paper to be published in the journal, Nature Communications. A leading esophageal cancer researcher, Dr. Pan heads a UTA lab that is largely devoted to the study and treatment of the disease. READ MORE

FORMULA SAE TEAM RACES IN ENGLAND
FORMULA SAE TEAM RACES IN ENGLAND

Current and former UTA Formula SAE racing students are in Great Britain to compete in this weekend’s 20th anniversary of the Formula Student United Kingdom event at Silverstone Circuit. UTA won the inaugural event in 1998 and will race a reconditioned and updated version of its 1998 car in a 100-meter drag race against last year’s winner from Cardiff University in Wales. READ MORE

LEADING THE WAY IN INNOVATION
Leading the way in Innovation

UTA has been awarded a patent for a revolutionary technology that scans the eye movements of its users, enabling them to navigate mobile platforms such as electric wheelchairs without the use of hands. Called a 3-D point-of-gaze headset, the new technology grew out of computer science and engineering Lecturer Christopher McMurrough’s research as a CSE doctoral student at UTA. The device is designed to assist people who lose use of their arms, legs, or hands. READ MORE

Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price is among 50 mayors worldwide nominated for the World Mayor Prize, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the community. Price earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from UTA in 1972 and was named a Distinguished Alumna in 2013. READ MORE

Urban Health

A recently published study by UTA urban researcher Shima Hamidi shows a correlation between urban sprawl and a decreased life expectancy in the United States. Dr. Hamidi is executive director of the Institute of Urban Studies in the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs. READ MORE

Top Professor

Frank Lewis, the Moncrief-O’Donnell Chair of Electrical Engineering at UTA, recently received the 2018 John R. Ragazzini Award from the American Automatic Control Council. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to automatic control education in any form. READ MORE
