UTA lAUNCHES WEB MODERNIZATION
The path to becoming a member of the Maverick alumni family often begins with a visit to www.uta.edu. The University is currently modernizing the design and infrastructure of the website to improve the user experience and better reflect the first-class learning and research taking place to engage and entice prospective students. The first set of webpages launched Aug. 15, and the project will continue to move forward in phases until a total new experience is achieved. VIEW THE SITE

EXAMINING HEALTH DISPARITIES
Elizabeth Merwin, dean of UTA’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation, is continuing her National Institutes of Health-funded research into health disparities, focusing on people with serious mental illness, minority populations, and individuals who live in rural areas. The project began in 2016 when Dr. Merwin was a professor at Duke University, where she led an interdisciplinary research team on a $3 million NIH grant, which has since transferred to UTA. READ MORE

INTERNATIONAL ACCOLADE
Krishnan Rajeshwar, UTA Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, has received international recognition for his work in electrochemical deposition, or electrodeposition. Dr. Rajeshwar is the recipient of the Electrochemical Society’s 2019 Electrodeposition Research Award for outstanding research contributions. Established in 1979, the award recognizes preeminent scientists in the field of electrodeposition. READ MORE

PROFESSOR HONORED
Faculty, staff, and friends gathered Aug. 12 for a retirement reception for Beth Mancini, senior associate dean in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation. The renowned health care innovator has been a UTA faculty member since 2004. The Dr. Beth Mancini Excellence Fund has been established in her honor. DONATE

TILLMAN SCHOLAR
U.S. Air Force Capt. Syed Faraz ’07 has been named to the Pat Tillman Foundation’s 2019 Class of Scholars. Faraz earned a BS in economics from UTA. The Tillman Scholar program is the premier academic fellowship for military service members. READ MORE
