UTA Convocation

The fall 2018 incoming class of freshman students is, by preliminary accounts, 3 percent larger than last year's fall class. During the 2018 MavsMeet Convocation, President Karbhari officially kicked off the semester with a warm message to the class. "Welcome to Maverick Country," President Karbhari said. "I will hope that each of you will from today forward consider The University of Texas at Arlington your home." READ MORE

Maverick Speakers Series Announced
Maverick Speaker Series

A sustainability innovator, an actor-artist-activist, a science historian, an animal conservationist, and an actor-playwright-professor make for an exceptionally strong lineup for the 11th annual University of Texas at Arlington Maverick Speakers Series, a premier event in North Texas that draws the nation’s best minds. Graham Hill will kick off the new season Thursday, Sept. 13, in Texas Hall. READ MORE

Heart Health
Dr. Yi Hong

Yi Hong, a UTA bioengineering professor, has won a new $460,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health to develop a biodegradable and bioactive hydrogel to repair heart tissue after heart attacks. Recent research has shown that the injection of a hydrogel derived from heart tissue with the cells removed can promote the development of new heart muscle cells and also help restore heart function. Last week, UTA was designated a Purple Heart University in recognition of its service to our military veterans, and in keeping with this tradition of excellence, alumni relations is gauging interest in a military veterans alumni chapter. Alumni Named Tech Titans Finalists

Several alumni, educators, and entrepreneurs with UTA ties were recognized in this year's Tech Titans Awards. Vanessa Ogle, Rahul Saini, Ali Abolmaali, Bryan Chambers, Kedreon Cole, and Morris Goldade were among the award finalists. READ MORE

Making Music
Making Music

Billi London-Gray, a 2018 graduate of UTA's Master of Fine Arts Intermedia Studio program and a lecturer in the Department of Art and Art History, has won a Puffin Foundation grant for her ongoing project, The Loop and Saw Choir. READ MORE

UTA Night at the Rangers | The ever-popular UTA Night at the Rangers is back when the Texas Rangers take on the Tampa Bay Rays at Globe Life Park. The first 1,750 UTA fans to purchase their game ticket through the Rangers website will receive a special UTA-themed Rangers baseball hat. GAME TICKETS or PICNIC TICKETS

UTA Day at the Zoo | Join the herd of Mavericks exploring the wonders of the animal kingdom at the first ever UTA Day at the Fort Worth Zoo. Your ticket includes entry into the Zoo, parking, and a catered picnic. Bring the family and enjoy a day of fun and friends at one of the country's best zoos. Children 2 and younger are free! Fort Worth Alumni Chapter Meeting | Coming off a record season in 2017-2018, the UTA Lady Mavericks basketball team is looking to win big this season behind Coach Krista Gerlich. Hear from Coach Gerlich at the October Fort Worth Chapter meeting at Joe T. Garcia's. Lunch starts at 12 PM. REGISTER

UTA Day at FC Dallas | Don't miss your chance to tailgate and get on the field at Toyota Stadium with fellow Mavericks as FC Dallas takes on the Seattle Sounders Football Club. Tickets include a pre-game BYOB tailgate featuring Rudy's BBQ. The fun starts at 2:00 PM. GET YOUR TICKETS
