TECH TITAN
Tech Titan

The biomedical innovations of UTA researcher Muthu Wijesundara (left) have earned him recognition as a finalist for the Tech Titans Technology Inventor Award. Tech Titans, Texas’ largest technology trade association, selected Dr. Wijesundara, principal research scientist at the UTA Research Institute, for breakthroughs that advance engineering, medicine, and science. His projects include a patented smart seat cushion. READ MORE

INNOVATIVE PUBLIC HEALTH DEGREE
Innovative Public Health Degree

The College of Nursing and Health Innovation will launch a Master of Public Health degree with an urban health focus beginning in fall 2019, making UTA the only university in Texas and one of few in the United States to offer this concentration. The MPH concentration in urban health will prepare students to address the complex public health issues facing urban communities. READ MORE

PRESTIGIOUS RESEARCH AWARD
Prestigious Research Award

Graduate student Jose Maldonado has received a prestigious National Science Foundation grant to fund his research in evolutionary biology. The second-year doctoral student in biology was selected to receive a 2019 NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. Maldonado’s faculty adviser is biology Associate Professor Matt Fujita. READ MORE

UTA in San Jose

About 40 College of Engineering alumni in Northern California showed their Maverick pride during a networking event last month in San Jose. Engineering Dean Peter Crouch was on hand to provide the latest updates from the college.

ALUMNA RECOGNIZED
Alumna Recognized - Valencia McClure

Valencia McClure ’86 has been named to Savoy magazine's “Most Influential Women in Corporate America” list for 2019. McClure, who earned her bachelor's degree in journalism, is vice president of governmental and external affairs at Baltimore Gas and Electric. READ MORE

Alumni at Move-In Event | Meet the newest class of Mavericks by volunteering to help with residence hall move-in! Join us from 9-11 a.m. and share your words of wisdom with students while helping them move in to their new homes.
