UTA recently recognized holders of endowed chairs and professorships and the generous donors who make these prestigious positions possible at the annual Endowed Chair and Professor Installation Dinner. Among those attending were, from left, Provost Teik C. Lim; Robert L. Woods, holder of the Dr. Bob Woods Chair in Automotive Engineering; Paul E. Andrews Jr., who established the Woods Chair; and President Vistasp M. Karbhari. Each faculty member and donor received a special medallion commemorating their partnership.

A LEADER IN CARING FOR STUDENTS
A Leader in Caring for Students

Lisa Nagy, vice president for Students Affairs, will receive the Dr. James (Jim) E. Caswell Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators later this month. The award recognizes Nagy for her high-quality contributions and leadership to the profession of higher education student affairs. READ MORE

THE FUTURE OF BONE HEALING
Ideas Center Named Finalist

A UTA team researching a groundbreaking treatment to accelerate the healing of cranial injuries has received a $427,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health. Led by Venu Varanasi, an associate professor in UTA’s Bone-Muscle Research Center, the team is developing a method for live 3D printing of bone-forming scaffolds that can be grafted to cranial defects using regenerative antioxidant materials that support the body’s natural healing processes.

Homecoming 2019

Registration is now open, so make plans to attend UTA’s weeklong Homecoming celebration Nov. 4-10. Events include the Distinguished Alumni Awards and the Party on the Plaza, as well as special alumni group receptions, a parade, basketball games, and much more. REGISTER

Nursing Ranking

UTA’s online Master of Science in nursing degree program is ranked among the best in the nation by Best Health Degrees. Offered through the College of Nursing and Health Innovation, the program is ranked No. 7 nationally and second in Texas among nursing schools with hybrid or fully online MSN programs. READ MORE

Maverick Open | Join UTA student-athletes, coaches, and staff for the annual Maverick Open Golf Outing at the Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington. Check-in is at noon with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Proceeds offset the costs of scholarships, tutoring, and nutrition for student-athletes. REGISTER
