Donor Appreciation Reception

UTA celebrated donors and friends whose generous support advances the University’s tradition of excellence during a reception last week at AT&T Stadium. The “Evening of UTA Stars” honored members of the University’s 1895 Society, Edward E. Rankin Legacy Society, and Carlisle Society and featured remarks from UTA President Vistasp M. Karbhari. NEW MUSIC BUSINESS DEGREE
New Music Business Degree

Alumnus Jamar Jones ’17, a music industry veteran who has performed with Patti LaBelle, Jamie Foxx, and Jill Scott, is now teaching UTA students how to manage artists, run record labels, and produce albums. An assistant professor and director of the Music Department’s Music Industry Studies program, Jones is leading a new bachelor’s degree program in music industry that launched this fall. READ MORE

LAB COMBATS MEDICATION MISUSE
Lab Combats Medication Misuse

Yan Xiao, a professor of nursing and patient safety specialist in UTA’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation, is developing interventions to reduce unsafe use of medications. His research is funded by a new four-year, $2.5 million grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Dr. Xiao oversees the Partnership in Resilience for Medication Safety Learning Lab, or PROMIS lab, a consortium project led by UTA. READ MORE

JHG TEXAS GIFT
Nursing Scholarships

The College of Nursing and Health Innovation recently hosted a reception recognizing five students who each received $2,000 scholarships from the humanitarian organization JHG Texas. Established in January 2019, the annual $10,000 award supports full-time undergraduate nursing students who maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Nancy's Night

Named in honor of Nancy Baker, the late wife of UTA Athletics Director Jim Baker, Nancy’s Night benefits the Nancy Baker Endowed Scholarship, among other athletics endowments and programs. The revamped event features live music, food, and a silent auction and begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Troy’s inside Texas Live! TICKETS
