HOMECOMING HOOPS ON TAP
UTA Basketball Season Tickets

Catch the women’s and men’s basketball teams in action Saturday, Nov. 9, at College Park Center as part of the Homecoming 2019 celebration. The Lady Mavs take on Chicago State at 2:30 p.m., and the men battle the University of Tulsa at 7 p.m., with halftime featuring the coronation of the Homecoming king and queen. The alumni Homecoming game package is $20 and includes your ticket to both games in the alumni reserved section, free popcorn, and a $5 contribution to support alumni programming. Tickets are also still available for the Party on the Plaza, a gathering on College Park Center’s Northwest Deck prior to the men’s game.

EXCELLENCE IN NURSING
Excellence in Nursing

Two professors in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation will each receive the Distinguished Educator in Gerontological Nursing award from the National Hartford Center of Gerontological Nursing Excellence. Kathryn Daniel, right, associate professor of nursing, and Patti Parker, assistant clinical professor of nursing, are being recognized for their efforts to train the next generation of gerontology professionals. NEW DUAL-DEGREE OFFERINGS
UTA FTW

UTA and the Texas A&M University School of Law have announced the start of two dual-degree programs that will allow students to earn a master’s degree in either business administration or taxation and a J.D. degree in law, concurrently, from each institution. The overlap of courses enables the students to rapidly gain both degrees, thereby enhancing their level of expertise. READ MORE

NO. 1 FOR VETS
No. 1 for Vets

UTA is the nation’s No. 1 four-year institution for veterans and their families to earn a college degree, according to Military Times. The Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges 2020 list recognizes UTA for its 85% veteran graduation rate, its large population of service members and veterans, and its ample experience working with military-connected students. CHOIR RECOGNIZED
UTA Choir Recognized

UTA’s A Cappella Choir was selected to perform at the National Collegiate Choral Organization’s 2019 national conference at the University of Maryland. The 48-voice A Cappella Choir is the University’s premiere choral ensemble, consisting primarily of undergraduate and graduate vocal music majors. READ MORE

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
Wanda Streepey

Wanda "Jean" Streepey (’17) recently received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. An educator for 13 years, she teaches seventh-grade accelerated mathematics and serves on the instructional leadership team at Highland Park Middle School.

Digital Culture Roundtable | UTA’s Center for Theory presents “Digital Culture: Promises, Progress, and Power,” a roundtable discussion about the role of digital technology in society.
