SERVING STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
Serving Students with Disabilities

Over the next five years, UTA will cross-train graduate students interested in social work and special education to better serve grade-school children with disabilities and high needs. The College of Education and School of Social Work will use a $1.08 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs to create an interdisciplinary master's-level personnel preparation cohort. PRESIDENT RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL HONOR
President Receives International Honor

UTA President Vistasp Karbhari has been elected as a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in recognition of his prolific research and innovative leadership. The honor places Dr. Karbhari among a distinguished set of eminent scholars and practitioners who analyze important societal challenges and help solve complex issues for the well-being of the future of Europeans and the planet. NURSING PROGRAM RANKED NO. 1
Nursing Program Ranked No. 1

UTA’s online accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program is ranked as the best in the U.S. by Nursing Process. It’s yet another top national ranking for the College of Nursing and Health Innovation. Earlier this fall, the online Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program was ranked first by College Rank, while the online Master of Science in Nursing degree program was ranked second in Texas and seventh nationally by Best Health Degrees. FLOODING RESEARCH
Flooding Research

Civil engineering Associate Professor Yu Zhang has received two grants to assess the costly economic and ecological impacts of natural disasters on industries and waterways around the Neches River basin in southeast Texas. His research is supported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the General Land Office. READ MORE

Database Expert

Gautam Das, associate dean for research in UTA’s College of Engineering, has been named a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Dr. Das was cited for his contributions to search and ranking in databases and to deep web querying.
