As part of its new MAVS 100 program, UTA recently recognized the 100 fastest-growing Maverick businesses, highlighting success stories in UTA entrepreneurship. The event revealed the top 30 businesses, ranked by average revenue from their last three years. CAET Project Management Consultants LLC received the top honor of the night, ranking as the No. 1 fastest-growing Maverick business. As founder and president, Molly Sandlin ’14 is leading the company’s growth. READ MORE

NASA PARTNERSHIP
Nasa Partnership

NASA has selected a team of UTA physicists to investigate how differences in Earth’s northern and southern hemispheres affect the planet’s response to space weather. Faculty members Daniel Welling, Yue Deng, and Ramon Lopez are developing advanced computer models that examine space weather to account for Earth’s interhemispheric asymmetries. The two-year, $1.3 million project establishes UTA as a Heliophysics DRIVE Science Center, a NASA program established to address grand challenge goals that are deemed ready for major advancements. NURSING EXCELLENCE
Nursing Excellence

Amid a nationwide nursing shortage, UTA is on the front lines of educating the next generation of nurses to alleviate deficits in the field. UTA’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation is the No. 1 producer of baccalaureate-degreed nurses in Texas and the largest nursing program of any public institution in the country. UTA’s efforts are critical. By 2030, the state will face a shortage of approximately 60,000 nurses, according to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services. READ MORE

DAY AT THE RODEO
Day at the Rodeo

UTA’s annual Day at the Rodeo was filled with food, fun, and community. Alumni and other Maverick friends got into the cowboy spirit Jan. 26, when the day of Texas fun was celebrated at the brand-new Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. EDITORIAL HONOR
Editorial Honor

The bilingual, international journal Mexican Studies/Estudios Mexicanos has named a UTA faculty member as its new editor. Christian Zlolniski, director of UTA’s Center for Mexican American Studies and faculty member in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, took on the new role in January 2020. READ MORE

AEROSPACE STUDY
Aerospace Study

Bernd Chudoba, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at UTA, is working with NASA on a feasibility study to determine how current technology could make hypersonic travel a reality sooner and at less cost. The study is funded through a contract with the National Institute of Aerospace.
