UTA alumna Dora Zapata, vice president of corporate philanthropy and community relations at Wells Fargo, received the Community Advocate Award at the 13th annual Minority Business Leaders Awards presented by the Dallas Business Journal. An experienced community development manager, her work at Wells Fargo includes community and economic development, housing philanthropy, community involvement, and local partnerships. PRESTIGIOUS FELLOWSHIP
Edmund Prater, professor in the College of Business’ Department of Information Systems and Operations Management, is UTA’s first faculty member to be appointed a Jefferson Science Fellow by the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Prater will spend a year at the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, Office of American Spaces, starting in August. The fellowship program is designed to help the U.S. government leverage the expertise of academic scientists, engineers, and physicians. READ MORE

RAeS FELLOW
The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) has elected Luca Maddalena, a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at UTA, as a fellow in the world’s oldest professional body dedicated to the aerospace community. Dr. Maddalena has been at UTA since 2010 and serves as director of its Aerodynamics Research Center. READ MORE

groundwater STUDY
A study led by environmental researchers at UTA suggests a disconnect between the perception of groundwater contamination and the extent to which that contamination is attributable to oil and natural gas extraction. The research was conducted by members of the Collaborative Laboratories for Environmental Analysis and Remediation at UTA. READ MORE
