NEW COURTROOM
The Adelfa B. Callejo Courtroom was recently inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that revealed the new quarters. The space will serve as a practice area for mock trial and moot court participants, as well as a classroom and gathering spot for students interested in studying law. The courtroom was made possible through funding from the Callejo-Botello Foundation, which was established to honor the memory of Adelfa Callejo, a prolific lawyer, civil rights activist, and educational advocate in Dallas. DALLAS 500
The Dallas 500, an annual special edition of D CEO Magazine that showcases the most powerful and influential business leaders of North Texas, included a dozen men and women who attended UTA. “Our alumni continue to shine as leaders and trailblazers in diverse industries and disciplines around the globe,” said UTA President Vistasp Karbhari, who also was named to the list as a leader in education and health care. COLLEGE SUCCESS
Giselly Cobas-Rincon left Cuba in search of a brighter future in Texas. Her dream soon became reality with the help of UTA University Crossroads, a Dallas-based partnership comprising more than 90 organizations that improves access to and success in higher education for first- and second-generation students from low- to moderate-income households. Through University Crossroads’ college-readiness programs, she eventually enrolled at UTA, securing $4,000 in scholarships. READ MORE
