Timothy Ponce, senior lecturer and coordinator of internships in the UTA Department of English, is one of the University’s numerous teaching staff and faculty who moved their courses online this week. Dr. Ponce posted a picture of himself on LinkedIn saying, “First day of school (online). I’m ready to serve my UTA students and my community.” READ MORE

NATIONAL ACADEMY
National Academy

The 2020 class of National Academy of Inventors Senior Members includes four faculty members from UTA: Pranesh Aswath, professor of materials science and engineering; Wei Chen, professor of physics; Haiying Huang, professor of mechanical engineering; and Robert L. Woods, professor of mechanical engineering. These additions bring UTA’s total number of NAI Senior Members to five, including Jon Weidanz, associate vice president for research. READ MORE

Singing Alumni - Eric and Emily Baker

To spread joy and encouragement, Eric and Emily Baker, UTA music education alums, are posting videos of them singing with their daughters on Facebook every day, Big 2 News KMID in Odessa reported. Their first post now has over 1,000 shares with almost 60,000 views in just a week.

Movin' Mavs

UTA’s Movin’ Mavs wheelchair basketball team was honored for a perfect season in WFAA’s “Sports Spotlight.” The team went 14-0 this season and won their games by an average of 31 points per game. Go Mavericks! WATCH VIDEO

LION SCHOLAR
Lion Scholar - Idarasosa Ekong
Idararosa Ekong, who was salutatorian of her graduating class, is only 18 years old—but she’s set to graduate UTA in just a few years. That fast-track to success is thanks to her participation in the Lion Scholars program, the result of a strategic partnership between UTA and the Arlington Independent School District.
