CHEERS! TO THE CLASS OF 2020
UTA is inviting Mavericks near and far to connect and celebrate spring 2020 graduates virtually. Students, family, alumni, friends, and the public can join the Cheers! To the Class of 2020 online celebration at 7:30 p.m. May 17, with a pre-show beginning at 7:20 p.m. The event will air live and be available across UTA’s social media networks. The virtual, one-night-only celebration will include messages from across campus, unique performances, and special memories. READ MORE

MAVERICKS SELECTED FOR NSF PROGRAM
The National Science Foundation (NSF) selected three graduate students and one recent alumnus from UTA to participate in its prestigious Graduate Research Fellowship Program. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines. The three UTA graduate students selected are Melissa Orr, chemistry; Joseph Michael Cloud, robotics and computer vision; and Israa Qasim Jaradat, computer science and engineering. The alumnus awardee is Iretomiwa Esho (’18 BS, Mechanical Engineering). READ MORE

STUDENT RECEIVES AWARDS
Bradford Dimos, a third-year Ph.D. student in biology at UTA, recently received two awards at the annual meeting of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology. The first was the Zander Fodor Student Research Award, which goes to students whose research grants are scored among the top five each year. The second was the Best Student Talk Award in the Division of Ecoimmunology and Disease Ecology. READ MORE

The Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers has named Erick C. Jones, the George and Elizabeth Pickett Endowed Professor and associate dean for graduate affairs in UTA’s College of Engineering, as a fellow. READ MORE
