The Center for African American Studies facilitates the discourse on race and contextualizes the varied historical, cultural, and community influences that shape Blacks in America. The Center’s minor, Emerging Scholars Program, and Emerging Leaders Initiative offer students a diverse cultural experience through lectures, training, and small group discussions with faculty and community leaders as well as mentoring, internships, and travel opportunities.

The Center for Mexican American Studies is dedicated to advancing the study and understanding of Mexican American and other Latino populations in the United States. Our mission includes administering the 18-hour minor in Mexican American Studies; promoting faculty research focused on Latino issues, and serving as a bridge between the University and the local Latino community.
