Woods named 2017 Minnie Stevens Piper Professor

Bob Woods, a longtime UTA mechanical engineering professor and founder of the UTA FSAE racing team, was designated a 2017 Piper Professor by the San Antonio-based Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation. The award, established in 1958 to recognize outstanding college professors across Texas, is given annually to honor educators' dedication to teaching and their outstanding academic achievements. Woods is the 10th UTA professor to be named a Piper Professor. LEARN MORE.

Women's doubles team heading to NCAA tournament

The Sun Belt's first-team All-Conference tandem of senior Astrid Gehre and freshman Anna Wichert was selected as the league's automatic qualifier to the 2017 NCAA Doubles Championship. The tournament is set for Wednesday-Monday, May 24-29, at the University of Georgia. LEARN MORE.

The deadline for this year's Blazing Race is Monday, May 8. Register online to receive a free pedometer to help you track your steps. Quantities are limited. Join the Wellness Committee and your fellow Mavericks at 11 a.m. Wednesday May 17, for a competitive race across campus. The theme is “Maverick Spirit Run” so show your Maverick Spirit for a chance at some prizes.

Teams also can sign up for the SAC Summer Slimdown on the same registration link. The Slimdown is May 17-July 12. LEARN MORE.
