Homecoming week continues with fun, friends, festivities

Join UTA’s community of students, faculty, staff, alumni, families, friends, and supporters at Homecoming festivities this weekend. Visit Homecoming 2017 for details and ticket information.

The campus will be buzzing with activities throughout the weekend. Friday, Nov. 10, includes the volleyball team against UL-Monroe at 6:30 p.m. at College Park Center and the Movin' Mavs Wheelchair Basketball Tournament until 9 p.m. today and 2-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Maverick Activities Center and the Physical Education Building. More fun on Saturday includes:

  • The annual Homecoming 5K Walk/Run begins at 10 a.m. and will wind through campus, with participants raising money for UTA’s Emergency Assistance Fund.
  • The UTA women’s basketball team takes on Incarnate Word at 2:30 p.m. at College Park Center.
  • A street festival begins at 3 p.m. on Spaniolo Drive.
  • The annual UTA Homecoming parade steps off at 5:15 p.m. and culminates with a pep rally in front of College Park Center.
  • The men’s basketball game against Loyola Marymount starts at 7 p.m. in College Park Center. The Homecoming king and queen will be crowned at halftime.

Candidates for vice president for Student Affairs to visit campus

Candidates for vice president for Student Affairs will have sessions open to the University community at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, in Room 204 of the CAPPA Building; 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in Room 212 of Pickard Hall; and 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, in Room 100 of the Geoscience Building. Each candidate will speak, followed by a question-and-answer session.

The candidate’s name and resume will be released 24 hours in advance of each session.

First Arlington Heroes Parade on Saturday

Bring your lawn chairs to the inaugural Arlington Heroes Parade in downtown Arlington. The parade will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, to honor Arlington’s veterans, active military members, and first responders.


Detours on west campus next weekend

UTA Boulevard between Kerby Street and West Nedderman Drive will be closed Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 18-19, for removal of the construction crane at West Campus Garage. Alternate east-west options include Abram Street, Greek Row Drive, and Mitchell Street.
