Technology expert final speaker for Maverick Speakers Series season

Technology author and futurist Vivek Wadhwa will speak on "Navigating Technological Change at Light Speed" at the last Maverick Speakers Series event for 2019-20. His talk is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at Texas Hall.

Wadhwa is an entrepreneur, academic, and author whose research is focused on the critical advances in robotics, artificial intelligence, computing, and more and how these advances are creating disruptive changes.

He is a Distinguished Fellow at Harvard Law School and Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering. A syndicated columnist for The Washington Post, Wadhwa wrote the 2018 bestseller Your Happiness Was Hacked: Why Tech Is Winning the Battle to Control Your Brainand How to Fight Back.

Tickets are free for faculty, staff, and students; limit two. General admission is $5. Other options include the preferred package with reserved seating and parking and the VIP package.

Nur Yazdani, professor of civil engineering, is developing a tool that will help protect homes and possessions against flood waters in future storms.
