Annual Enrollment deadline Saturday

Make changes to your benefits, reenroll in UT FLEX, or choose other options before the Benefits Annual Enrollment deadline of midnight Saturday, July 31. If you do not wish to make changes, no action is needed. Manage your benefits and find this year's enrollment highlights, the Enrollment and Resource Guide, and the virtual enrollment page at the UT System Annual Enrollment website.

Windows upgrade for all devices

Learn about your part in Windows upgrade

Join a Teams Live Event at 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 30, to learn more about the Windows Endpoint Management project. The new improvements will increase the overall protection of University assets and continue to ensure protection against malware, cyber-attacks, viruses, spyware, or other unauthorized activities.

Youngest ever council member

In May, Junior Ezeonu, 22, graduated from UTA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. Less than a month later, he won election to the Place 8 at-large seat on the Grand Prairie City Council, becoming its youngest ever member.

Lizard diversity

Luke Frishkoff, assistant professor of biology, is studying the diversity of anole lizard species in the Caribbean islands to gain insight into why some species are common, while others are rare and possibly at risk for extinction.

Presidential search website

The new UT Arlington presidential search website is online. The site offers a copy of the position specification and ongoing information about the search effort, including an opportunity for members of the University community and public to anonymously submit candidate nominations and comments.

Navigating the Job Fair

Get the ready for the Student Employment Job Fair and finding the right student for your on-campus positions. Register for a workshop offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, and 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6. The fair is 12:30-4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the Maverick Activities Center.

Recycling Training

A great way that the UT Arlington community can reduce waste is to recycle and to do so correctly. Join Balcones Resources for a virtual recycling training workshop to learn how to better recycle 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4.

OIT upgrades and updates

The UTA network will undergo maintenance from 2‑7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1. Employees and students can expect intermittent interruptions to the network during the maintenance periods. For more information, please visit the OIT website.

Beginning Thursday, Aug. 5, emails sent from outside UTA will be marked with [External] as a reminder that the email was sent from an external sender. This serves as an added layer of protection to caution users about opening external emails. Visit the OIT website to learn more.

On Saturday, Aug. 14, Microsoft will store recordings of Teams meetings in OneDrive or SharePoint and perform upgrades to Stream. This will improve access to recordings, but certain features will be temporarily unavailable. Visit the OIT website to learn more.

Be air friendly

One way to participate in Clean Air Action Day—Wednesday, Aug. 4—is to take advantage of transportation options around campus, such as using ride-share and car-share programs or riding a bicycle. Learn more at Air North Texas.

Sustainability news

The summer issue of Sustainability Quarterly includes news about the Walkable Arlington program, vegan and vegetarian dining options on campus, and more.

Commencement volunteers

Volunteers are needed for summer commencement, Aug. 18‑19 at College Park Center. Submit the Commencement Volunteer Form by Friday, July 30.

Policy updates, changes

CO-CV-PO-03 Skateboards, Bicycles, Roller-Skates (In-Line & Others), Hoverboards, & Scooters on Campus Policy—Student Congress requested changes to the policy to address abandoned bicycles, among other things. This is a new policy that replaced CO-CV-PR-04.

HR-E-PO-07 Fair Labor Standards Act Policy—Converted from a procedure to a policy.

HR-E-PO-14 Overtime Policy—Converted from a procedure to a policy. Overtime still requires a supervisor's prior approval. All employees who work overtime and supervisors who approve overtime should be familiar with this policy.

HR-E-PO-15 Remote Work Policy—All staff who are working remotely under a Remote Work Agreement should be familiar with this new policy.

HR-LA-PO-01 Family & Medical Leave Act Policy—Converted from a procedure to a policy. All employees who are in need of leave due to a personal or immediate family illness and all supervisors should be familiar with this policy.

HR-LA-PO-04 Vacation Leave Policy—Converted from a procedure to a policy.

IT-PO-03 Information Security & Acceptable Use Policy—This is UTA’s new governing policy for information security. The chief information security officer will issue several security standards under this policy. All employees should be familiar with this policy.
