Messages of support

Students have received messages of compassion, support, and encouragement from UTA and UT System leaders following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis and the related protests.

"It’s up to all of us to take responsibility and ensure our country lives up to the ideals of a free and equal society." — UT System Chancellor James Milliken

"... it is time that we renew our own commitment to and uphold the values set forth in UTA’s Principles of Community." — UTA Interim President Teik Lim

"Shedding light on just one incident can make a world of difference." — UTA's Student Government leadership team

Students are encouraged to use campus resources if needed:

Additional resources and services are available through Student Affairs.

Campus closed early

Protests within the City of Arlington are anticipated later today. In order to minimize disruptions to local commuter traffic and out of an abundance of caution, the UTA campus closed early at 2 p.m. today.

Phishing scam targets college students

Scammers posing as university officials are sending emails to students urging them to view a message about their COVID-19 stimulus checks.

This phishing scam asks students to click on a link that requires their university login information. Once the link is clicked, the scammers then have access to your personal information and can wreak havoc.

By following these guidelines, you can protect yourself from these bad guys:

  • Verify web address and always manually type the address into your browser.
  • Do not use websites or services that offer to be an intermediary between you and the IRS by processing your economic impact payment.
  • Never share your personal information. Bad guys may claim to be from the IRS or another agency and offer to assist you with your stimulus payment. Stimulus payments will come directly from the Treasury Department.
  • If you get an email from a sender you do not recognize, do not click on links or attachments within that email.
  • Do not accept or deposit a stimulus check that comes through the mail from anyone other than the Treasury Department.

What Will You Remember?

Document your COVID-19 days for posterity

The UTA Libraries needs your help documenting the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the University community.

It is looking to collect digital and physical materials (such as diaries, journals, photos, videos, social media posts, and artwork) that faculty and staff have created during or in response to the pandemic. Additionally, oral histories can be done remotely. These would be added to UTA's permanent archival collections.
