Homecoming Week packed with fun

Homecoming 2021 runs through Sunday, Nov. 14.

See the artistic works of student organizations from Chalk the Mall.

The Chili Cook-Off on Wednesday, Nov. 10, has moved to the Palo Duro Lounge in the University Center because of a rainy forecast.

See the music lineup and get your free tickets for the Homecoming Bash on Thursday, Nov. 11.

There's still time to register to compete in the Homecoming 5K.

Don't miss the street festival, parade, basketball games, and crowning of the Homecoming king and queen on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Pediatric COVID-19 vaccine clinics

UTA has established two on-campus pediatric vaccine clinics to support Mavericks with family and dependents ages 5-11. Additionaly, two other clinics are for Mavericks with family and dependents age 12 and older.

These free walk-in-only clinics will be in the Maverick Activities Center.

The clinics for ages 5 years and older are in room 100B.

  • Saturday, Nov. 20, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 11, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The clinics for ages 12 and older only are in the Group Exercise Room101B.

Road closures for Homecoming events

In support of Homecoming festivities this week, parts of campus will experience road closures.

  • Spaniolo Drive from UTA Boulevard to Third Street, from 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, until midnight Saturday, Nov. 13.
  • West Nedderman from UTA Boulevard to Greek Row Drive, 7 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 13.
  • Some streets near the Maverick Circle/faculty lot 11 and College Park District, 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13.
Texas Tier One University Celebration, 2-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, Brazos Park.

Tier One Celebration

Join the campus community for a celebration of UTA’s designation as a Texas Tier One University 2-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, in Brazos Park. Come for refreshments, giveaways, and entertainment, plus remarks at 2:30 p.m.

Veterans Day

Veterans Day celebration

Learn about the contributions of Indigenous and Native Americans in the United States military at a Veterans Day event 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, on the University Center mall.

UTA Police Department's new location at 202 East Border Street.

UTA Police moving

The UTA Police Department administrative office will move to 202 E. Border, at the corner of Border and Mesquite streets, effective Monday, Nov. 15. UTA Boulevard becomes Border Street at Center Street.

Anyone needing assistance for lost and found, report requests, Clery crime log, or other needs will find them at the new location. Criminal Investigations, Crime Victim Services, and other police department services also will be at the 202 E. Border location.

Visitor parking is available near the main entrance.

Young Investigator Award

Logan Moore, kinesiology doctoral student, was named one of 29 recipients of the 2021 American Society for Bone and Mineral Research Young Investigator Awards for his research on arthritis.

Investment management scholars

Five UTA students were among the inaugural participants in The University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company scholars program this summer.

Summer undergrad research

Ten undergraduate students from UTA and other universities pursued individual research projects with College of Nursing and Health Innovation faculty as part of a new summer research initiative.

The Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act notification includes information on illegal use of alcohol and other drugs on campus and at campus-sponsored events.

Native American Heritage

November is Native American Heritage Month, and UT Arlington is marking the occasion by celebrating the culture, accomplishments, and contributions of the continent’s Indigenous peoples.

American Recycles Day. Electronic Waste Recycling and Trivia.

E-waste recycling event

Bring your old computers, accessories, and more to the Electronic Waste Recycling Event for America Recycles Day 1:30-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, on the UC mall near Woolf Hall.

E-waste includes printer cartridges, batteries, and anything that runs on electricity. See what can be recycled.

This event is to dispose of personal items. No UTA assets will be accepted.

Stop by the trivia table for a chance to win some sustainable prizes.
