Announcement: Department Chair, Computer Science and Engineering Department
The College of Engineering at The University of Texas – Arlington (UT Arlington) seeks nominations and applications for the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department Chair position. Candidates should possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and have a strong record of scholarship and teaching commensurate with appointment as Professor. A Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering or a closely related area is required. The Chair will provide vision and leadership for the CSE Department to achieve world-class research excellence while continuing its tradition of high-quality teaching and community service programs. The Chair will aspire to significantly increase research funding and endowments addressing national and international challenges. This includes fostering collaborations with industry, alumni, government groups, within UT Arlington and with other universities.
The CSE department offers three ABET-accredited B.S. degrees in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Software Engineering. It also offers M.S. degrees in Software Engineering, Computer Science, and Computer Engineering. The CSE doctoral program offers Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. The department has a diverse, high achieving faculty of 35 members and approximately 1100 students (http://cse.uta.edu/). The department has consistently enjoyed external funding for research and has produced five NSF Career Awards in the last five years.
The College of Engineering has six other academic departments and currently has approximately 4800 students. It provides one of the most comprehensive engineering programs in the nation, with nine baccalaureate, 13 masters, and nine doctoral programs.
UT Arlington is located in the center of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, neighboring several major institutions of higher learning including UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, UT Dallas, University of North Texas in Denton, and University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. There are also a large number of information technology, telecommunications, electronics, logistics, transportation, energy industries, and health care companies, providing outstanding opportunities for collaborative research and development.
