Bill Othon began his engineering career in 1961 with Forest & Cotton, Inc., Consulting Engineers in Dallas while he was attending night school at UT Arlington. Following graduation, he moved to Houston, where, in 1980, he founded OTHON, INC., Consulting Engineers. The firm now has branch offices in Austin and Dallas, Texas and Miami, Florida.
After establishing and growing his own business, Mr. Othon recognized an opportunity to take the business to new levels by developing business overseas. In 2002, he co-founded OTHON
INTERNATIONAL, Inc. In less than a year, he negotiated one of the firm’s largest contracts with the World Bank.
Mr. Othon has received several awards in recognition for his professional and public service accomplishments, including, the City of Houston’s Outstanding M/WBE Professional Services Award in 2000, the 2003 Small Business Leadership Award for his contributions and dedication as a project management consultant on Houston’s METRORail project, and the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s “2005 Male Entrepreneur of the Year.” In 2006, he was appointed to the City of Houston’s Wastewater Capacity Reservation Review Board of Directors.
Bill Othon is one of the founders of the Houston Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the Houston Hispanic Architects and Engineers. He has served on the Board of
Directors of the Houston Consulting Engineering Council of Texas and is a member of the
American Society of Civil Engineers, the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (served as President), the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Texas Council of Engineering Companies.
