Ron Turner began his career with Southwestern Bell in the Dallas engineering department and held various engineering and technical positions there until accepting an assignment in Chicago as a Technical Instructor/Developer with AT&T in 1978. There, he collaborated with Bell Labs on computerized network planning models for the telephone subsidiaries. He returned to Dallas in 1980 to support the initial application of facility planning programs for the SBC Texas engineering group.
From 1982 to 1994, he led the deployment of optical transport and digital switching conversions for Texas telephone exchanges. In 1995, Mr. Turner was appointed District Staff Manager-Common Systems Engineering in St. Louis, Missouri, where he directed SBC’s methods and procedures for power/cabling systems and engineering records. In 1997 he was appointed Director-COE Engineering in San Antonio, where he supervised engineering operations for the South Texas telephone network.
Mr. Turner returned to Dallas in 1999 as the General Manager-Network Engineering to supervise the network planning for SBC’s five-state Southwest Region. In 2006, he was appointed Executive Director-Global Network Planning for AT&T, supporting network integration of SBC, BellSouth and AT&T until May 2008, when he joined Covenant Advisors, a Registered Investment Advisory firm helping individuals and small businesses as a retirement and investment planner.
