David Black began his engineering career in 1973 with Texas Instruments, where he was involved in the design of semiconductors, small business computers, and the world’s first 5¼” “Winchester” disk drive. In 1985, David joined Compaq Computer Corporation as vice president of Engineering and was responsible for the development of Compaq’s desktop and portable PCs, including Compaq’s first laptop and notebook computers. He is also credited with leading Compaq’s entry into the printer business and served as vice president and general manager of Compaq’s Worldwide Peripherals Division.

Mr. Black joined Insource Technology Corporation, a network engineering and custom application company, in 1995. In addition to his duties as president and CEO, he also leads the company’s Enterprise Wireless Networking and Intrusion Detection Systems practice and is a member of the board of directors for Insource Technology, Insource Technology Direct, and Dedicated Solutions, Inc.

Mr. Black holds seven patents pertaining to advanced disk drive technologies. He is a member of the IEEE.
