General Information for Students
Eligible students are UTA College of Engineering undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or better. Seniors must have two semesters remaining before graduation. Transfer students must have completed all prerequisite requirements. A Pass/Fail grade will be assigned at the end of the semester.
Students participating in the program must:
- Complete the Application for Co-op Participation, Consent to Release Records and Memorandum of Understanding forms and return them to the Co-op Office. Each transcript will be reviewed to ensure that minimum qualifications are met. E-mail resumes as a Word document to engcoop@uta.edu for placement in the co-op resume database.
- Obtain a co-op position by (a) responding to position advertisements that may be e-mailed to participants, (b) applying for positions found on company websites using links on the co-op web site or (c) developing opportunities on your own.
- Complete the Request for Co-op Course Participation form and return it to the Co-op Office for approval. Please allow 3-5 business days for a response. Once approved, you will be given a course number to use during registration.
- Register for the co-op course and pay appropriate fees. Failure to meet a university fee payment deadline will result in being dropped from the course.
- Complete the Co-op Program Orientation that will be e-mailed to you by the end of the first week of work. Students returning for additional work tours do not need to complete additional orientations.
- Keep a diary of work activities to assist you in preparing a Work Report at end of the semester and submitting it to the Co-op Office by the deadline date.
- Submit all required evaluations (Student Evaluation, Employer Evaluation, etc.) and reports to the Co-op Office by designated deadlines.
