Jim Crites – Operationally Ready

James M. “Jim” Crites is the executive vice president of operations at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. This involves overseeing multiple activities, including energy and transportation management, asset management, public safety, environmental affairs, airport development and engineering.

Mr. Crites joined the staff at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in 1995 to serve as the director of planning and marketing research. He provided key leadership in the planning of and support for the development of facilities and assessing new business opportunities as part of the recently-completed and highly-regarded Airport Development Plan.

Prior to his service with the D/FW Airport, Mr. Crites worked in several key management positions at American Airlines, including managing director of airport services and managing director of financial planning.

Mr. Crites graduated from the University of Illinois, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He subsequently earned a master’s degree in operations research while attending the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

He currently serves as the chairman of the Transportation Research Board’s Aviation Group. He also serves as a member of the Airports Council International’s North America Technical and Operations Committee and the board of the City of Fort Worth’s Sister Cities International.

In February, Mr. Crites was inducted into the College of Engineering’s Hall of Achievement. Membership in the Hall of Achievement is accorded to individuals who, through their performance and example, have made significant contributions to the engineering profession.
