
Alicia Davis is the manager of the General Motors Arlington Assembly Plant, a position she has held since October of 2007. She is the first African-American woman to be appointed plant manager at a GM vehicle manufacturing facility.
Ms. Davis is responsible for providing plant leadership for the plant’s 2,500 employees, assuring that business objectives are met or exceeded in all operations.
Ms. Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She began her GM career in 1994 as a manufacturing engineer at the Midsize/Luxury Car Division in Warren, Michigan and later became senior manufacturing engineer there in 1997. In 1998, she transferred to GM's Detroit-Hamtramck Plant, where she held several positions of increasing responsibility reaching general assembly area manager in 2002. Ms. Davis moved on to become area manager of the paint shop at the Fort Wayne Assembly in 2004, then became area manager of the plant’s body shop in 2005.
In addition to serving on the advisory board for the College of Engineering, Ms. Davis is a Board Member for the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. She is very active in mentoring and volunteering at community events.
