New Nuclear Engineering Minor
to be Introduced in Fall 2009

Be ready to join a growing energy industry!
Begin now for future success.

There have been enormous developments and accomplishments during the last decade in the field of nuclear engineering and science – exploring the nature of nuclear and nucleonic structure, probing matter at extreme energy densities, advancing generation IV technologies in nuclear reactor design. In addition, as a part of the national goal of energy independence, the expansion of nuclear energy has been recommended to constitute the major part of the nation’s future energy supply. The Department of Energy, national laboratories and the nuclear industry as a whole are facing a serious shortage of nuclear engineers and scientists.

That’s why the College of Engineering will be offering a Nuclear Engineering minor this fall. This program is open to all engineering majors and can be earned in as little as 18 credit hours! Complete three basic required courses, plus your choice of three courses from eight additional offerings.

Physics majors are also encouraged to consider this minor, although additional courses will likely be required. Engineering students should be able to complete the minor with a combination of required courses, a judicious choice of electives, and just a few additional courses.

Detailed information on program requirements and a list of courses is available at www.uta.edu/engineering/nuclear.
