Giving Opportunities in the College of Engineering

The number of highly skilled engineers is increasingly vital to the advancement of our society. Throughout history, engineers have contributed to many of the world's most revolutionary life-changing inventions, not only in the expected areas of transportation, construction and communications, but also in medicine, materials and computing. With a curriculum focusing on real-world applications and cutting-edge research, The University of Texas at Arlington's College of Engineering produces thoroughly educated graduates ready to create and lead the next wave of technological advancements.

The outstanding students of the College of Engineering succeed in part because of the environment in which they learn and conceive – cutting-edge research and teaching laboratories, technology-enhanced classrooms and study areas, state-of-the-art libraries and, of course, a knowledgeable and supportive faculty.

Drawn by outstanding engineering disciplines, professors, student activities and career preparation, student enrollment increased dramatically over the last decade. Maintaining and improving the quality of instruction to these students is costly. That's why, in an era of dwindling state appropriations, the College must rely on the generous support of alumni, friends, corporate partners and foundations to help meet its needs and those of its students.

There are several ways to support the College:

Annual Fund – Through the Dean's Excellence Fund, gifts support student and faculty activities such as travel to conferences and competitions, scholarships, the Summer Camp program, awards.

Scholarships – Help the College attract outstanding students and support deserving ones.

Fellowships – Attract and support outstanding graduate students to perform essential research.

Faculty Support – Hire, retain and encourage the best minds in their respective disciplines

Endowments - Generate an on-going stream of income to support chairs, professorships, scholarships and a variety of critical and innovative programs.  They also provide the donor an opportunity to pay tribute to a loved one, colleague or friend.

Planned Giving - Long-term philanthropic rewards through bequests, trusts, annuities, securities, retirement plan designations, gifts of insurance policies, and gifts of retained real estate.

Matching Contributions – Enhance an individual gift through generous company matching contributions

Donors may select some of the following initiatives. These include, but are not restricted to, the:

Center for Structural Engineering Research
Engineering and Computer Science Summer Camp Program
Wendell Nedderman Endowment Fund
Syed Qasim Endowed Professorship.
