Commencement Guest Speaker

Mr. Roger A. Krone (’81 MS Aerospace Engineering), was the guest speaker at the Spring 2008 College of Engineering Commencement. He is president of Network and Space Systems, a business of Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, where he directs the operations of six Boeing divisions with 23,000 employees in 40 states and nine countries.

Mr. Krone has achieved an illustrious career in the aviation industry. He was an engineer at General Dynamics from 1977 through 1991, where he also
held positions in program management and finance.
He joined McDonnell Douglas in 1992, where he held positions as director of Financial Planning, as division director of Information Systems, and as vice president and treasurer.

He joined Boeing as vice president and general manager of Business Management and chief financial officer for Boeing Military Aircraft and Missile Systems. He then gained positions of increasing responsibility, including vice president and general manager for U.S. Army Programs and Military Rotorcraft, vice president of strategic programs, and vice president and general manager of Army Systems for Boeing Integrated Defense Systems.

Prior to attending UT Arlington, Mr. Krone after receiving a bachelor’s degree at Georgia Tech and later earned an MBA at Harvard. He holds Boeing’s Six Sigma Green Belt certification and also has a commercial pilot license.
