College, McLennan Community College Ink MOU for Transfers
Thursday, September 27, 2012
Dean Jean-Pierre Bardet travelled to Waco on September 27 to finalize a memorandum of understanding between the UTA College of Engineering and McLennan Community College (MCC) which will help MCC’s students better pursue and complete their studies in engineering.
“Community colleges are very important to UT Arlington and
the College of Engineering. About half of the College’s graduates started at a
community college. We value our relationships with community colleges and
acknowledge the fine job they do in preparing students to continue their
studies,” Bardet said.
The agreement between the institutions, signed by Bardet and MCC President Dr. Johnette McKown, clearly outlines the courses McLennan students must take to ensure a smooth transfer to UTA. It specifically focuses on students wishing to transfer into the Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Departments. More departments could be added in the future.
“McLennan Community College is well-respected, and we have had the good fortune to have many good students from here. Two of their alumni, James Grisham and Cody Jones, have transferred to our Aerospace Engineering Department and they are doing very well. We hope this agreement will lead to many more MCC students on campus,” said the Dean.
