Graduate Student Receives Award at International Conference

Justin Thomey, a civil engineering master's student working on a soluble sulfate soil mapping study, received the best paper presentation award at the Third International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering with a focus on new developments on modeling, design, and analysis.
The conference was held at Hammamet in Tunisia February 21 to 23. Three awards were given to young engineers. Selection was based on the technical details and the information presentation of the technical paper. Thomey received the first prize out of the top three awards given during the conference.
Thomey is a Master's student in civil engineering with a focus area in geotechnical engineering and is currently advised by Dr. Anand Puppala, Associate Dean for Research in the College of Engineering. Thomey's paper is co-authored by Dr. Bhaskar Chittoori and Dr. Puppala.
