College Staff Gets Crime Prevention Training
Thursday, February 21, 2013
To ensure preparedness in the case of an active shooter on campus, many members of the dean’s staff, administrative staff, department chairs and others attended a recent presentation by the UTA Police Department.
Led by Assistant Chief Ricardo Gomez and Sgt. Jonathan King, the presentation outlined steps that people can take to save themselves and students in a life-threatening situation.
“Unfortunately, shootings happen on college campuses, so we want to be prepared in a worst-case scenario,” said Dean J.P. Bardet. “We thank the UTA Police Department for their willingness to provide this training that could save lives.”
In addition to the video shown during the training, the Police Department has many resources for more information about this and other crime prevention on its website, http://www.uta.edu/campus-ops/police.
