UTA Finishes 5th at FSAE West
Monday, June 24, 2013
UTA's Formula SAE racing team finished fifth at the Formula SAE West Nationals June 19-22 in Lincoln, Nebraska, against 79 teams from around the world.
This year's car, which features many technological breakthroughs, including active wings that respond to steering inputs to create 700 pounds of downforce, breezed through its technical inspection. The team was third in the design competition, fourth in business presentation, and ninth in autocross.
According to team advisor Dr. Bob Woods, "the team did an outstanding job all week, and the judges loved our active wings."
The University of Washington won the competition, followed by Auburn and Missouri University of Science and Technology.
