The visit was just one of many by College of Engineering dignitaries in the past 18 months aimed at strengthening ties with similar universities around the globe. In 2012, the Computer Science and Engineering Department cemented an agreement with Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications that brings nearly 20 students from China to Texas each year. Anand Puppala, associate dean for research, travelled to India and Colombia and hosted a delegation from GITAM in India last year, while electrical engineering professor J.-C. Chiao visited several countries across Asia last summer to secure relationships with other universities.
