AE Professor Frank Lu Named to AIAA Board

Frank Lu, professor of aerospace engineering, has been elected Vice President – Publications of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the organization announced April 7.
Lu, who is director of UTA’s Aerodynamics Research Center, has been on the faculty at the University since 1987. He will begin his tenure on the AIAA Board of Directors on May 1.
“This superb recognition reflects Frank’s long standing within the AIAA community and beyond. We are proud of his rich history of service,” said UTA Mechanical and Aerospace Department Chair Erian Armanios.
Among Lu’s related accomplishments are Editor-in-Chief, AIAA Progress in Aeronautics and Astronautics; Editorial Board member of Shock Waves, Aerospace Science and Technology and International Journal of Aerospace Innovation; and the Springer book series Shock and High Pressure Phenomena.
“I congratulate and look forward to working with each of the newly elected board members,” said AIAA President-Elect, Jim Albaugh, in a news release. “Election to the Board of Directors is an acknowledgment by their peers and carries with it a responsibility to ensure that AIAA stays a strong, vital organization, committed to shaping the future of aerospace.”
AIAA is the largest aerospace professional society in the world, with more than 35,000 individual and 100 corporate members from 80 countries.
