UT-Arlington research spending up 68%

University of Texas at Arlington research spending shot up 68.1 percent in 2008 to $66.6 million.

Among the highlights: UT-Arlington opened a 27,000-square-foot civil engineering laboratory building, broke ground on an engineering research complex and established a Texas Instruments Distinguished University Chair in nanoelectronics.

The school also received a National Institutes of Health grant designated for the study of temporomandibular joint disorders, named Donal R. Bobbitt provost and vice president for academic affairs, created a master's program for the School of Nursing and received funding for a hospital-based accelerated bachelor of science in nursing program.
